happened about a year ago, but no less funnier.

An FBI agent in charge of safely transporting a $500,000 Ferrari to a warehouse has instead crashed it. The wreck took place today in Lexington, Kentucky. Police are blaming the accident on possible bald tires (sure, we believe that).

The Ferrari was seized during a drug raid. (Note to drug dealers: It's probably not a good idea to be driving around in a $500,000 Ferrari).

The FBI agent was driving around 40 mph when the wreck took place. The Ferrari ended up crashing into several trees. Luckily, he was not seriously injured.

Ferrari Recalls New 458 Italia After Some Catch Fire

Italian sports car maker Ferrari is recalling the 2010 458 Italia because of problems with engine heat shields that could result in fires.

Several owners of the new sports car, which costs about $230,000, have reported the cars catching fire in recent months and many who follow the industry had anticipated a recall.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says heat from the engine can cause the rear wheel housings and heat-shield assemblies to deform and allow the shields to get too close to the exhaust system. Heat from the exhaust, the agency says, can cause an adhesive that holds the shield assemblies together to overheat and emit smoke.

When the car’s operating temperature is particularly high, the adhesive can catch fire. In some cases the fires have spread quickly and destroyed the cars. To fix the problem, dealers will replace the old heat shields with a new design that attaches with rivets instead of glue

as you might have seen, bugattis original top speed was beaten by an american car manufacturer (im pretty sure i did a thread on it, its the SSC Ultimate Aero TT) well bugatti got pissed with that and designed a new and improved bugatti with the sole intention of getting that record back. and here it is.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport sets new land speed record – 430 kph!

They burnt the night’s oil in making a hypercar that went on to dethrone another which in fact had just made a third car move from the position of the fastest production car which it had kept for a decade. Confusing and cluttered opening line indeed. We are taking about the Bugatti Veyron (408.47 kph) which blasted past the Koenigsegg CCR (403.45 kph) which on the other hand held the throne for a short while post the epic McLaren F1 (371.8 kph).

One fine day when we refreshed the web pages we happened to see a newsflash which read “SSC Ultimate Aero TT sets new land speed record of 412 kph”. What a heart-break for the Bugatti loyalists among us even though the speed demon lurking beneath rejoiced.

Same can’t be said about the mad scientists at Bugatti who went to their nuke-proof bunkers to find a way to get their Weapon-X in action. Hours of work tuning the engine, suspension and aerodynamics boosted the power from 1001 bhp to 1200 bhp. Torque figures shot off the roof – 1106 pound-feet. To give their creation a new identity a new name was given – Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport.

Once they brought the Frankenstein monster to life, they handed it over to their tame racing driver. Some say that he is known by the name Pierre Henri Raphanel and is employed by Volkswagen as official test driver. So Raphanel took the Super Sport for a spin on the parent company’s Ehra-Lessian high-speed oval with Guinness Book representatives and German Technical Inspection Agency as witnesses.

The adrenaline-shot Veyron had two runs of 427.91 kph and 434.19 kph respectively averaging up to 430.99 kph that goes straight into the record book as the new world record for the fastest production car in the world.

Bugatti will be building 30 copies of the 16.4 Super Sport and five of them will flaunt the black and orange paint scheme of the record breaking car. The production versions will have a top speed that is “limited” to 415 kph. With its top speed still ahead of that of the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, Super Sport owners won’t be complaining.

2010 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 by MANSORY

not sure what the thought is behind this limited edition version of the bugatti veyron but geez its terrible (well the gold trim is)

With hand-crafted carbon fiber pieces and an LED “V” in the front bumper, the Bugatti Veyron LINEA Vincerò by Mansory was one sweet looking ride. Its tremendous power bursting with 1109hp wasn’t anything to frown upon either. Now, however, the LINEA Vincerò has just gotten a more impressive younger brother and this sibling is packing some serious style.

Following in the Bugatti Veyron LINEA Vincerò’s footsteps is the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 LINEA Vincerò d’Oro, which adds a special golden touch to the vehicle’s styling. It starts off with a carbon fabric with inbuilt copper thread and moves throughout the car with “turbine” design alloy wheels, a curved grill featuring the “Vincerò-V”, door handles, rear view mirror caps, and the fuel tank cap all dressed in a golden glow. Adding to the shimmering state of the Bugatti are gold headlight washer nozzle covers, gold borders around the daytime running LEDs, and gold decorative features on the roof.

We kind of wish we could say that was it, but there’s more. So much more.

Inside the Bugatti, the mood lighting system in the car’s seats, door trims, and dashboard all let out golden rays as they light up the already sparkling gold carbon appliqués as well as the specially embossed leather also in gold. To be honest, the leather actually looks more like crushed velvet in the picture which, ironically, seems more fitting for this chosen style. Gold alloys are also visible on the decorative strips of the door trims and on the center console.

Okay, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is a serious vehicle and adding gold here and there would make it stand out like no other, but we think Mansory may have gone a tad - okay a ton - overboard with the extensive amount of gold they spread throughout the car. Didn’t they ever hear the saying less is more?

Pricing was not released for these strictly limited series, but we can’t imagine a car decked out in this much sparkle is going to come cheap.

With the LINEA Vincerò d’Oro, MANSORY has completed its strictly limited series for the refined Bugatti Veyron 16.4. After the specialist for exclusive luxury vehicles raised the bar for high-performance sports cars by another level in March 2009, MANSORY is now placing the crowning glory on the art of refinement. Using targeted changes, MANSORY first transformed the Bugatti Veyron into the LINEA Vincerò and then, using a special gold-coloured alloy, into the unique LINEA Vincerò d’Oro.

Compared with the standard Veyron, the LINEA Vincerò has received a comprehensive facelift to its front, consisting of modified fenders, a shortened bonnet and a striking front apron. The LED daytime running lights and the stylised letter “V” (paying homage to the name Vincerò) built into the car’s front end are particular highlights of the new design while the newly developed side skirts form a visual and aerodynamic link between the axles. Larger air outlets at the rear and at the sides of the car ensure optimal engine cooling and, with the new diffuser, underscore the vehicle’s vibrant design. MANSORY manufactures almost all the components in the car’s body from ultra-light, high-strength carbon and the autoclave method of hardening under high pressure and high temperatures used during the manufacturing process makes a huge improvement to the quality of the materials. One unique feature of the design of the LINEA Vincerò d’Oro is the carbon fabric with inbuilt copper thread used by MANSORY, the metallic sheen of which really brings out the exceptional nature of this special car.

Eight Mazda RX-8 Teams Deliver Rolex Grand-Am GT Championship -

August 29, 2010 (IRVINE, Calif.). Mazda, along with its MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development racing partners, clinched the 2010 Rolex Grand-Am GT championship this weekend during the Montreal 200 race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Despite the Mazda brand being one of the most successful racing nameplates in the world, this is the first GT championship for the company since its 1991 win in the IMSA GTO championship.

The combined efforts of eight Mazda RX-8 race teams all season brought not only the manufacturer’s championship, but all three GT championships – driver, team, and manufacturer. Over the past three years in the hotly contested Rolex Grand-Am GT series, the Mazda RX-8 has won multiple races against the best from Porsche, Chevrolet, BMW, Ferrari and others, but this season has been the rotary-powered car’s most successful.

With a fourth place finish in this weekend’s Montreal race, Mazda now has an insurmountable 50 point lead over Chevrolet and Porsche with one race remaining and a maximum of 35 points available. Who will win the driver and team championships is still undecided, but the leading contenders for both are Mazda RX-8 teams and drivers.

“Winning the GT manufacturer’s championship was a result of our core values of quality, durability, reliability, and teamwork. We’re proud of the combined efforts of SpeedSource, Dempsey Racing, Racers Edge, and Team Sahlens. Each Mazda team contributed to this championship, and it’s a very proud day for every one of our employees and dealers across North America,” said Robert Davis, Senior Vice President, Product Development and Quality, and the man responsible for Mazda’s North American motorsports operations under the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development banner. “The fact that this is locked up with one race to go means that it will be every team for themselves at Miller.”

Season highlights after 11 of 12 races:
• The season began with a win in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 23rd class win for Mazda at Daytona.
• Mazda won the first three races of the year (Daytona, Homestead, & Barber).
• Mazda has won six of 11 races (55%).
• Mazda has scored 19 of 33 podium finishes (58%).
• Mazda scored three 1-2-3 finishes (Barber, Lime Rock, & New Jersey).
• Mazda recorded six pole positions (Rolex 24 at Daytona, Daytona in July, VIR, Barber, Lime Rock, Watkins Glen)
• The #70 Castrol Syntec SpeedSource RX-8 has led more laps than any other team.
• Jonathan Bomarito leads the rookie-of-the-year standings.
• Emil Assentato leads the Bob Akin GT ProAm standings.

With one race remaining, the points are as follows:

Manufacturers Championship:
1st Mazda - 362 points (6 wins)
2nd Chevrolet - 312 points (1 win)
3rd Porsche - 294 points (3 wins)
4th BMW - 213 points (1 win)

Drivers Championship:
1st(t) Jeff Segal/Emil Assentato - #69 Mazda RX-8 - 318 points (2 wins)
3rd Sylvain Tremblay - #70 Mazda RX-8 - 310 points (2 wins)
4th Jonathan Bomarito - #70 Mazda RX-8 - 291 points (2 wins)
5th(t) James Gue/Leh Keen - #41 Mazda RX-8 - 289 points (1 win)

Team Championship:
1st #69 FXDD SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 - 318 points (2 wins)
2nd #70 Castrol Syntec SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 - 310 points (2 wins)
3rd #41 Dempsey Racing Mazda RX-8 - 289 points (1 win)

The season finale will be the Utah 250 at Miller Motorsports Park on Saturday, September 11th. Grand-Am awards 35 points for a win, so the drivers and team championships could go down to the final laps of the season.

I've been looking into corner weighting lately. I've found a few good write ups etc on the net but when i looked into corner weight scales they're like $1500000 bazillion dollars. not really worth it unless you are doing lots of track work. Does anyone know of any place in adelaide that are good with suspension set ups? I only want to do the occasional track day and hillclimb events etc but would also like the benefit of using the suspension to its full potential and getting it set up right. any ideas/experiences?
