Hey all, im having a bit of trouble getting my 68 1500 started. Ive just rebuilt the motor and pretty much replaced the entire ignition system. I just cant get any spark. Ive checked over the wiring 100 times, checked point gaps. cheacked lead resistances , earth points blah blah blah... im at a loose end. i seriously have ran out of ideas on what it could be. Was just wondering if any of the good people on SAR either are an out elec or are very cluey with early style electrics? If so please get in contact with me. If you are interested in making some easy cash and can get my car started please drop me a line.

thanks guys
Isaac

So where have you traced the spark through to?

Are you getting anything at the points?

Tried substituting parts for known good ones?

Why are you a "rotor-warrior" now isaac!? should be "4-cyl warrior"!:P

Maybe dont need to do this, it will most probably be a wiring issue (esp if it was working before you 'unplugged' everything).

You should be able to suss this shi+ out zacca, you work everyday on the worlds worst cars electrically!

Just trace wires to and from the coil etc. Ignition feed to/from the Ign Switch.
Even though it will crank, it may not be making the coil(s) 'hot' and wont give you spark. Ignition feed could be dodgy, wired incorrectly, or not at all...
Are you getting spark at all? over the four plugs?
Any chance the ballast resistor/ or resistance wire has been 'lost' in the replacement of said ignition.
Find yourself a manual or as a last resort a good sparky.......
