hi all i've got a few questions for you all i've got a s3 rx-7 that i've done a conversion on i haven't heard of it being done b4 but if anyone can help me out it would be much appericiated. i've put the front end of a s5 13bt into the front end of my s3 by that i mean cross member, steering, suspension, and of course the most important part the 13bt and gearbox. But and yes there is a big BUT i've hit a snag i'm trying to incorperate the s5 wiring loom into my s3 loom but dont have a s3 wiring diagram, i do have the s5 proper workshop manuals that i've borrowed from mazda but was unable to locate a s3 one if anyone can help or has some ideas i'd be more then happy to hear them
Cheers

I have the same setup, but i ditched the PS rack and put in a manual non PS rack in. But i don't have a s5T motor sitting ontop of it. As for the loom, perhaps it might be easier going an aftermarket loom, prob a bit more price involved, but atleast you have piece of mind that everything is new, and you can run EXACTLY what you need etc. If not, i reckon ive seen 1st gen manuals floating around on the net. Will have a check and see what i can find.
EDIT: what series pedal box/booster/clutch slave you running? IF S5, how did you mount your clutch slave?

Hey Devil-7, (is that you Josh?)
I've taken a look around and I'm sure that the S1, S2 and S3 diagrams are all the same.

All good mate, was just curious as i had a section of my firewall cut out and rewelded in to accomodate the s5 clutch slave in mine as it has a different bolt pattern to the s3 and hits a "rib" when unmodified.
I see people found you manuals, let us know what you end up doing with the loom. Would love to see some pics of the subframe conversion aswell if you have any.

i've taken plenty of pics as its progressed along so once its finished i'll post the whole conversion so ppl can have a look the hardest park probably was mounting the sub frame because if that wasn't right the whole thing would've failed. The last thing thats i really have to get done is to get the original s3 steering coloum modified the accomidate the s5 power steering.

I had clearance issues with the steering shaft where it joins out of the rack, the knuckle that is meant to join the two together fouled on my chassis rail, so ended up getting the shaft welded there as a 1 piece. other people who have done the conversion didnt have this issue, so i guess it really does depend on how you mounted the subframe.

Dunno about that, mine was a major headfark, but think it will definately be worth it in the end. Even with "rebuilt" steering boxes 1st gens steering is average, not to mention you also get a brake/suspension upgrade, 5 stud pattern, better motor mounting point, more front end room for thermo etc/a more rear engine weight, no steering box which allows a straight and large dump pipe for turbo just off the top of my head. Thats mine without the power steering aswell so PS could be a bonus for some.
