But it so hard to draw one up in illustrator and I cant just grab pictures off the internet due to copyright etc.

I like the current logo that we have now though. It's a bit of good old nostalgia and a nod to the hard work we all did for the club

Whao... what speed... the first one has potential, and I quite like the typeface, however the white flame on the rotor is kinda blend into the background, see if you could colourise the white flame with whatever colour, so it stands out from the white background.

If the background has a darker colour, then the white flame won't be an issue.

Ooooh black flame :D that goes well with the black heading.

I like the shape of the typeface, somehow the tearing effect makes it less legible, have a solid version of the font? I mean without the tearing effect?

I reckon get rid of the "Home of", so just "South Australia Rotary Enthusiasts Club" or something like that. Also I reckon the sub-heading should have the same width as the SAROTORS.org

BTW, I can see the untidy trailings of the flame (hairs), it was my fault cos it wasn't my intention to have it on a white background, so I didn't bother to clean up those "hairs", I can clean them up if you want, after everyone is happy with the final concept.

I agree with Dave, maybe have the back ground around the rota in a blue and white color.
And with the heqding of SARotors.org, maybe behind the SA part of it, have the same rota background as current, if you get what i mean.
I do think it is important tho to keep what we have worked towards previously.

Hey guys, one thing I have not considered when I was creating the spinning rotor, my question to you all is... Is the rotor spinning in the right direction?

I think the anti-clockwise spinning rotor we have here is the REAR rotor, just like you're looking at the rear rotor from your driving seat. So are you guys happy with the current rear rotor? or rather have a front rotor spinning clockwise? Trying to avoid potential embarrassment here.

Not sure it's a good or bad thing, it's a habit I have developed from my day job, looking at things under microscopic level :S

In case someone jumps out of his Nissan and said "Your logo spin in the wrong direction mate!", and we already know the answer... it's a rear rotor spinning anti-clockwise when view from driver seat..... Oh well, may be I'm really going too far, nevermind :D

I do like the current one up top of the page, but just for brainstorming purpose's how bout this one. I like the backgound, its very imposing.

Maybe switch the red for the light blue currently used on the site and then add in a nice simple-font text under the logo saying 'home of the south aus......'

Just tryin to get some different ideas flowing, although i would be more than happy with the current idea.

and i'd be more than keen for a sticker or two.

would need a replacement font for the SAROTORS.org as previously stated the tearing effect is no good... dont have it in solid damn...

also revised edition of previous idea... I have found the flame idea only works best on a white background

just an idea, if you have a look at the current logo in the forum header, the rotor is behind the SA text and it is in a vector object style.

I feel rather then using an image of a rotor, we should use a vector rectangle as it looks more professional in logo form...

consequently I feel we should stay true to the original logo as previously stated but just make a revised edition...maybe with a newer more better looking font and a bit more detail in the rotors but still keeping the same colour scheme...

its funny, its the same everytime, you brainstorm looking for new ideas, then you end up going back to the original design as it works best...

ill get back to use with a prototype...

Im a big fan of the first one with white backgroud.

It will go really well with merchandise. :D

Maybe for the website we can have that with a blue background instead of white?

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but at this stage I have no intention of reworking the website to suit a new logo, and there is also history with the current logo.

If I decide to change everything, I'll ask for submissions.
