Hey Matt, is Christian going to bring his FD?
A bit off topic here... IMO there's always dlckhe@ds amongst the bunch regardless of what car people drive, be it rotars or skylines, it's not a brand specific thing, hence the reason when out on the cruise I would always greet the owners first before looking at their cars.
Back to the topic... I think I will need to give my car a good rinse, anyone keen for a group car wash at the car wash bay the night before? I'm in the south around Hallett Cove area.

I'm looking forward to next year..
I'm not, i doubt my rotor situation will be any different in a year's time

Sigh.. They have their own cruises. Let us have ours.
It's been said before, the odd Nissan can rock up and we can't stop them, but I don't think it's ideal to get a whole pile of wankers in skylines to tag along. Seriously.
Im going to totally back james up on this, not taking anything away from matts efforts to help out though. This is an sa rotors cruise for rotary enthusiasts. Just because you dont have a rotary doesn't mean you cant be an enthusiast though. Mattt has a 180 but has joined the site and taken the time to contribute to the site and offered to help, so thanks. But i think where james is coming from is due to nissan silvia.com being a nissan silvia enthusiasts site the chances of any rotary enthusiasts being on there and not knowing about this cruise are slim. I think all it will do is encourage people who want to have a shot at racing a rotary to come along and once invited it would be alot harder to say "you've overstayed your welcome so leave". The public perception would not discriminate piston versus rotary if hoon behaviour was to occur we would all get tarnished with the same brush. We can see turbo nissans on skylines australia cruises and nissan silvias on nissansilvia.com cruises. As james said "let us have ours"
I'll also take this opportunity to thank ryan and tally, and anyone else who has donated their time from their work or study to organise this, you guys are champs and i hope this goes off without a hitch to reward you guys so thanks :)

i'm keen, Reynella happy wash?
Cool! I was thinking about the car wash next to the Hungry Jack on Lonsdale Road directly opposite to the new Hallett Cove Shopping, I think they have about 4 or 5 wash bays there. If Reynella is full then we can come over to Hallett Cove, there can be line up of cars in the afternoon though.
I'm thinking either before 6pm or after 10pm.

I just had a look at my car, only a thin layer of dust, I may only need a duster, but the brake dust is pretty bad, so I might still head down to the hallet cove car wash just for the wheel may be after 10pm.

I went out with Munky Matt and Jason 2 weeks ago in a 37c day fanging through the hills, coolant temp only peaked at 92c (normal driving in winter about 82c), so the 8 is pretty stable, turbo charged FD however is another story, just need to keep an eye on your Power FC reading may be.

I'm tellin you guys, with the posters, word of mouth and threads on other sites this will still
be massive. Theres always going to be bailers and for those that think its too hot would think its too cold too windy too whatever so they wouldn't show up regardless.
And james thats devo bout your car, should live in a world of denial and pretend you didn't see it. Hope its not terminal and just a case of a blow by problem from a breather. Do you run a catch can? All factory breathers?
Spoke to a mate who's friend is the new owner of the fd rx7 "JET RX7" who said he'd be keen to show.
Went for a drive in mine this morning, definately a drivers car loves the gorge!
Yeah it's going to be hot but ryan would know that and seeing as he wants to head north or hills (?) we're unlikely to be sitting in regular traffic so overheating shouldn't be a problem unless your cooling system is screwed in which case if it was 30 degress you would be stuffed

What were you driving? should of approached me (unless you did?) So many people to meet, was an excellent day. Glad everyone made the effort to come out. We came down from southgate with the southsiders, that was the best part I reckon, lot of tough rotors in the south i tell you.
Heres a couple of pics to tide you over till some creates a proper album. I got like 2 cameras with memory cards full of pics and videos including at the end when ryan aka flex put on a one man show that was well worth going the last check point nothing suss here, but i wish he warned me so i could of had the camera ready earlier!!!
My car ran faultless all day which was good news as i hadn't used it very much and didn't know how it would run. Ran the heater to drop temps a bit on the way to truro but more as a preventative measure rather than a requirement and from east to south to blanchtown then back south i did it all on 3/4 of a tank WTF. i was sure my guage was stuck. Had one problem of a split booster hose so lost brakes at thebarton but that was it. Seeing all the old school rotors made me want to paint mine though, something special about the older rotors.

hey all,
well my day got interesting as soon as we got near freeling..... my car cut out when i was doing about 100km/h... couldnt get it started as no power was getting to my autronic computer for some reason...anyways long story short i ended up slapping my ecu a few times and it was getting power again and the car started and ran...badly.
im pretty sure the motor leaned out when it cut out when i was boosting it.... cars got no power at all and barely idles....was able to limp it home though.
so yeah when i get a chance i'll do the basic checks coilpacks leads etc then comp test it.
im still in good spirits about it, i've been waiting for the motor to let go as i knew it was low (but even) on comp....too bad it let go like this and not from just wearing out. would've been pissed if it was a built motor though.
gonna get the autronic sent off and checked as well, sounds like it might have a dry solder or something.
ahh the joys of owning a rotor lol

Great turn out! so many rotars spread around the car park, I didn't know where to start looking lol!! I tried to get to know as many as you folks but it was too many people so ended up just walking around.
I went home after the Kapunda stop as I had a call of duty, I had the aircond on the whole time, luckily no overheating issue at all, air intake temp was as high as 55c under the bonnet but coolant temp was only 88c!!! looks like I prolly need CAI as engine feels a bit lazy.

If u guys saw me turn back just after we left Yadunda its because my left head light cover blew off once again...Biggest cosmetic problem with the Fd is these lights, when ur under boost they just snap off...

second leg was good, i had a mate behind me and sammy b behind him. Was an rx2 behind sammy b (pella maybe with cory in it) was fun annoying the sheep in the paddock on the way.
Think a few people need to go home and have a look at the cooling system theyre running in their car cas it resembles this guy

no good having 3000kwatw if you cant drive in a straight line at 100kmph without blowing your motor up let alone if you had to sit in traffic (not trying to offend anyone but its true) and yes i know i have about 100hp 3 of which im sure died in truro!!
Oh and i must add, met jeese re/ mazda represent at southgate and rolled with them and about 10 others including two bridgeport turbos and mark in his sv6 ve turbo to ingle farm and that and theyre champs, not afraid to talk which is good, managed to see under ryans bonnet again too with the new turbo and hes a top bloke too. Same goes for tony in the the orage rx4 (sure that was his name) and andrew and ket and anyone else i spoke too everyone was real friendly.

Congratulations to Ryan for organising the Birthday Cruise.
Such a shame to hear so many people that were "pumped" for this cruise decided to wuss out before it was even finished though.

Lol... think about some people pay good money torturing themselves in the sauna, we can have that for free while looking so cool in the rotar :D While I was having aircond full blast in my face I could still feel the intense heat coming off the gear tunnel, and the heat haze coming off the bonnet...
I was right outside the pub too, didn't know which one were you lol, else I would have said hello, nevermind, next time.

For this very reason that hardly any of us recognised each other, we should go for a drive saturday or sunday lunch to a pub / restaurant and have a counter meal few drinks and give us a chance to meet each other. We go up old belair road, upper sturt road towards mt lofty over the freeway bridge, head towards hahndorf and find a spot up there. That way south boys can go back the way we came, east and north side can go back down the freeway. We can book in advance get some tables put together organise what we want to eat (me i like schnitzel chips salad and a cold coopers) and we can talk cars after a sweet hills drive up there. Just an idea, easier to talk while eating and drinking rather than in a car park waiting to leave somewhere. Just a thought for the future.

it would be good because it wouldn't matter so much about having your car ready just bring your daily, just more of a meet and a chat about how everyones projects are going

I guess I'm the easiest to recognise, I could vaguely remember your face until someone pointed you out for me.
What you suggest is a good idea, I have done this with other group and it was great, it's more about gathering than just cruise, also shorter but more frequent cruises would work for some people too.

alright well we'll let ourselves recover from the birthday cruise for a while, then start a thread on a lunchen. Could even organise it if you don't wanna cruise just meet at the pub in your daily and the people who really like to drive can meet at like brownhill creek reserve and make their way up or something. People can bring pics and stats on their shed build ups if theyre not on the road yet and just hang out for a couple of hours. Love it!!!

very keen for an SAR meet-up : D
I was late to the birthday meet point and had to go immediately to the cruise... was not a fan of the fact that it was heading out past Kapunda (where i turned back with a friend) but it was great to see some nice braps driving : D
pity I killed my big end bearings on the same day :(

and marion rd extensions thru Clarendon, to Strath/MtCompass/Macclesfield etc
heaps of cut thrus back and forth for northies and southies and

straight up marion rd, chandlers hill rd i think,
where u turn right to go to clarendon, theres a christmas tree farm
if u go straight and dont turn right u just park on the side of the road
and climb the fence down, great little s bend
deck chairs and beers its perfect!!!!

That road your talking about is bar none one of the best. We learnt to drive on it. As ryan would say we had a "spirited drive" up there with an unknown guy with a fj20 turbo in a datsun 1600. Stopped seeing him in the rear veiw wondered why went back and he had locked it up and hit straight into a tree. His mrs wasn't wearing a seatbelt so she had a glass sandwich, absolute stupidity at the least. Do as james said, start a new thread, on it post the map and dates and get those deck chairs ready peeps.
