I dont see the value in joining the Austin 7 club, for the money you dont get a lot.

I am very thankful for what they did, but as a side point I personally dont believe there is value for money for signing up with them. Might be something they should consider if they wish to get new members.

What club does give you value for money?? These days you really only join a club to get a CAMS lic. If you have no intention of getting a CAMS lic then there is no point in becoming a financial member of any club. If all you want to do is just cruise and meet up then you just sign up to as many internet forums as possible and organise/attend events organised on line. This is why clubs such as SAR died. People just log onto forum attend any event/cruise and thats it. Why would you want to pay to join a club to do something you can do for free over the internet?? If A7 was MSCA affiliated I would still be a financial member but we wont go down that path again lol

Weren't they responsible for the death of SAR in the first place?

All things aside, i think the whole reson for the post is to promote getting a CMAS membership for those who want to.
Obviously everyone is going to have their personal opinion about what has/had happened but still, for those who are looking at competing or getting a cams licence its just showing how to go about that.

Seeing as how most of you are under 25 or have a mailing address 100km or more from Seaton, it's only $37.50/yr

If you weren't there, best you keep your opinions to yourself, hey?

With any luck, myself and a good friend should have a CAMS affiliated car club running by jan 31st 2010, we will have our membership price set at $40 per annum.

I will inform you more as things get closer...

We have CAMS affiliation in association with ClubPSI. Anyone who wishes to progress into motorsport is welcome to join our club for $40 per year in order to be able to get their CAMS licence.

All we ask is that you come out with us a couple of friday nights so we can get to know you a little better before acceptance into the club.

Jason.

Adam has actually reverted back to the brilliance of an MX5, and the positive words on PSi are appreciated.

But this topic is clearly trying to promote SA Rotors, and since this is their forum that everyone is using right now, its not the place to be advertising for other clubs.

There are a lot of good clubs out there as we all know, its not actually that expensive for SA Rotors to get CAMS affiliation... The hardest part is getting all the paperwork together to get things started.

that would be a really good idea for sa rotors to get cams affiliated. do these clubs have track days at mallala? or does anyone know how you go about taking your car out there? ide love to really see how my car goes without any worries from cops. the only way i know is the drift days on sat night once a month, but im bit more interested in road racing at the moment. anyone know how to get into time attack. car requirement (roll cage etc),what club to join, license type, what ever needs to be done to get out there. any info would be awesome

awesome that sounds like just what i want for now so is that different to the drift practice? can you buy the one day license for it on the day or will i need a full yearly license? ill have a look on the website. cheers

yeah it's a proper track day, but no real racing.
you need neck to toe clothes and a helmet and a helmet that has an ADR standards sticker, and you can buy your level one licence on the day.
I'd let the officals know it's your first time and you probably should start in the slow group and get used to it before you let rip...

Only problem with practice days are that they are uncontrolled, and you are more likely to get your car beat to shit.. Also, you don't get official lap times.

I'd suggest starting out with some Modern Regularity..

Have a read here.. http://www.austin7clubsa.com.au/index.php/guide

ive got full race gear from when i use to race gokarts. prob wouldnt wear the race suit though so people dont think im some shit guy that thinks hes good, haha. hopefully i become pretty good after afew runs. thats the goal.

that sounds like something ill definately get into. am i reading it right that because my car is road registered i wont need to put a roll cage in it for atleast the time being. eventually i will put one in anyway.

it should also be noted that day licenses are now $55 per day, not $20 or 25 or whatever it was before.
