see some $$$$$$ exotic new and vintage cars me and a few mates have a top spot a little further past sugarloaf rd but need to get there before they close the roads and watch the whole rally. last year a Ferrari F360 spun right infront of us on the corner then stalled twice tryin to take off again. not much room there though.
I usually go to corner of Deviation rd and Adelaide-Lobethal rd on the Sat.
The corner is bottom of a big hill, over 90deg, and has a massive dip and a gravel trap. Cars ALWAYS under estimate it.
Had a XY Ford spin out, another almost killed a photographer, Ferrari's bottom out (badly!) and just the usual general carnage :x
Definately a popcorn corner :D

i do marshalling every year, but this year I'm working..
I'd suggest the best viewing spot I've seen, is the morning they go up montacute (pretty sure it's saturday) sit on the corner of corkscrew and montacute, drive up from the gorge and you can get out when ever you want, great viewing from up on the mound, watch the cars come straight toward you and then get sketchy all the way up the next section of road...

sat is out for me coz of work
and for the same reason, the christmas tree farm is great
always heaps of understeer moments coming in too hot
and heaps of sideways moments on change of direction
the cars are always on full throttle comin in and goin away, so u can hear em revvin hard
and they have to slow down a bit so u get a real good look too
like u said, some spots are hard to get too and once ya there ya trapped in
but the christmas tree farm is accessible from anytime...
last year i did the death run at last minute, only caught last 2/3rds of cars
easy park, heaps of spots, easy leave
dont have to be be there all day to get a good spot too!!!!
Ill be there anyways, great to see whoever!!!!!!
sounds good, ill try make it on the sunday Corey

As us locals know all too well, the hills are magnificent roads, but extremely deadly!!!!!
Without having personal, ultimate, first hand knowledge of every corner,
and even with the aid of a navigator, obviously its extremely hard to be perfect.
They were experienced competitors, both driver and navigator, and every safety precaution taken, this just illustrates to me how short life is....
Live life to the fullest!!!!!
appereciate every day!!!!
love ya families and friends and your rotor!!!!!!!!
they still raced despite the inherent risks involved!!!!
remember they died doing something they loved!!!
deepest sympathy and respects to their families
RIP fellas
I'll be there on sunday!!

It also reminds me of the absolute stupidity of Hills runs..
If people can die under controlled conditions with a roll cage and helmets, what chance does someone have in a street car?

Definately true, discouraging, i doubt it, like the new advertising campaign with mick doohan you don't have road blocks or marshalls warning you of hazards ahead.
I'l be watching the classic today but not going as far as the christmas tree farm so we'll catch up another time corey.

Looks like I'm going to windy point, Xmas tree farm had no spectating signs ip everywhere so good luck there :)

Xmas tree point was ok this afternoon , there were a number of people setting up in the xmas tree growing area ( 2 meters from the road ) and no one went over to tell them to move so a few more people headed that way.
The yellow s1 had a small moment at the left hander just up from us which got the crowd looking , waiting for an off.....Didnt happen .....lucky as it is a fair way down over the edge.
All in all not a bad spot , a number off cars had their tails wagging a little as there was a little bump in the road which upset them on the way through.
Did you end up going Corey...
Michael....

Windys was awesome, Jas hung the FD out all the way around the hairpin - crowd went NUTS! Got some good pics of it :)
Some other beetle engine kitcar understeered straight into the armco about half way through the field and they cancelled the whole stage. No biggie, only decent car after that was the DB9 anyway :)
