my car is fixed just needs the front quarter panels + front rear bumpers bolted on and a wheel alignment to be driven. still needs to be spray painted where all the repairs were done. but should still be alright for a track day? i think.
i might have paint done by the time we have the track day but either way should be able to participate.

Thank you to those people who came to the meet point on Saturday.
I was a little dissapointed that a lot of people didnt show up, it just means that we will go with the suggested dates of those who did show up.
This is how the event currently stands:
Date: Weekday during the first week of november (specific day to be confirmmed when i have all deposits)
Driving Style: Grip (may have some drift if there is enough people)
Price: Price will be set at $250 per competitor (based on 15 people minimum) and if we get more people or not enough people, money will be refunded.
Current Numbers: Currently we have 10 competitors, so we have 10 spots left open for friends if you wish to invite them. (PM me their details from post above)
*******
I will be TXTing people my bank details to start getting deposits next week and once i have 15 entries a date will be booked. So the sooned the deposits get paid the sooner we get a date confirmed.

Ok, there will be a good 6 hours of track time all up. Format isnt desided yet as im still confirming numbers, if there is 15ish people it will pretty much be free-play but if there is more then i would say we will be split into 2 groups to meet "club event" regulations.
We currently only have 1 drifter and 2 people willing to give it a go. Chances are we will work something out to have a drift session for those people at one stage during the day and the rest will be grip.

So we are going to need a helmet for this right? I don't have one at the moment, should probably buy one cause I'm sure this won't be the last time I'm out on the track. What standards do I need to look for, and where is a good place to get one from? Thanks in advance!

Revolution Race gear have been good in the past when i needed a helmet, have a good range too
13bwankel
18-07-2011, 03:39 PM
Any Motorbike shop can help too, just needs to have an Aust. Standards sticker on it. I can't remember the number that it must be tho, nothing bought new these days wouldn't have it.
the only thing you can get caught out is helmets that are Snell approved, but not Aust. Standards. Most bike shops would tell you either way though.
The other thing I did hear was there was talk of no open faced helmets, not sure if that changed, but I'd just get a decent full face.
13bwankel
18-07-2011, 03:40 PM
Oh and I'd budget around $300 for a reasonable helmet. Remember you only need a $10 helmet for a $10 head.

the only thing you can get caught out is helmets that are Snell approved, but not Aust. Standards. Most bike shops would tell you either way though. Snell is a no-no on the street, but OK on the race track. Arai GP5/6 are Snell approved and OK on the track, but not Australian Standards approved so can't be used on the road. Arai SK5/6 are NOT allowed to be used for CAMS circuit racing, be aware if you were to buy one of these (OK for Karting, though) Anything you buy from a Motorbike shop will be Australian Standards approved.

I didn't think that snell was approved by cams either, however, I may thinking of the Arai's
Either way get something that's adr approved then you have a helmet for when you get a motorbike :D

We currently have 19 people, if i can get 4/5 more people we can then afford the larger CAMS permit which allows passengers and still have a lowered cost to those entering. Quote from Mallala Staff:
These prices do not allow passengers or instructors in the cars with the drivers. To have more than one in a car at once you could need to have a CAMS permit to cover the day which would be at a cost of $1000.00 plus GST.
At the moment i have got the cost down to about $225 rather than $250 per person entered - excess cash will be given back to enterants on the day.

Original 20 spots have been taken but i will still take new people's details as there is no limit on numbers.
The only thing that higher numbers will effect is the amount of time we get on track.
We currently have 19 people, if i can get 4/5 more people we can then afford the larger CAMS permit which allows passengers and still have a lowered cost to those entering.
So the extra cash for the larger permit that allows for passengers only allows for an extra 4 cars?
The reason im asking, is not to be critical of your effort, but i have others now, who after seeing the flyer and through word of mouth are keen too pay and play.
2 possibly 3 more ROTA's and a porsche...
If numbers are capped at 24 well so be it,glad i got in, but i was under the impression that the more cars the better and the cheaper it becomes for all?
one other quick question...Are we going to be running to any specific class regs?
ie. do we need fire extingushers fitted, blue triangle, tow hooks etc..?
or is it run what you brung with a basic check over like at the drags?
Cheers
Hyperdrive3d
07-09-2011, 07:41 PM
I have negotiated with Mallala to be able to get 24 cars on the day without the CAMS permit, that is why i have capped it at 24 cars.
I want to allow everyone to get as much time on track as possible for the price as shown below...
105 mins track time @ 24 cars (approx $200 each)
70 mins track time @ 25 - 32 cars (approx $230 - $180 each)
Im sorry but i am going leave it at 24 cars... If this is a success then I will organise another one mid 2012. Get the others to txt their details to me and if anyone drops out i will let them fill in...
No passengers or drifting at this event so we don't have to pay the extra $1300.

one other quick question...Are we going to be running to any specific class regs?
ie. do we need fire extingushers fitted, blue triangle, tow hooks etc..?
or is it run what you brung with a basic check over like at the drags?
Cheers
I have been told that this is classed as a drive day which means you dont need a fire extinguisher or battery markings etc... But i would recommend them if you have them...

Hey guys, I have paid but no longer have the evo which I was going to take out. If anyone is keen, they can have my spot - just need to pay me of course!
Jason, can you let me know if anyone is trying to get a spot?
Cheers

You have a spot mate as long as you get your deposit in asap as said in the PM i sent you.
You also said you had a friend with an FC that wanted in so i have a spot for him but he needs to contact me(0404886804) by tuesday otherwise he looses his spot to a reserve.

You can probably bring multiple cars if you wish, you will still only get an equal amount of track time as the rest tho.
We only have access to the track(excluding burnout pad)and the new skid pan is an extra $1500 for the day so you are welcome to pay for it if you wish to use it.
To hire Mallala with all facilities & permits is about 8k and as this is the first one i have held im only hiring the main track.

Have looked on mallala site and it looks like you just have to rock up with a helmet and $125...is this correct?

Taken from the gsr/evo club regarding these practice days...
- Do you just turn up and pay? Yes
- Is there a driver's briefing? Yes, after you pay, they do few group briefings
- Do you have to be there at a certain time for scrutineering? Not really.. The sessions start at 0900ish I think, so be there earlier so you don't miss sessions..
- What is the format i.e how many sessions are there, what is the duration and how many cars are on the track at the same time (cannot find any details on the Mallala website)? They divide you into few groups ( usually four ) depending on the car/experience/licence etc. Each group will have 15 mins track time every hour.. How many cars depends if it's busy or not, but expect to be 10 sec away from cars behind/front..
- I am assuming that it is un-timed and I will have to organise my own timer? Correct

It's a dark blue one. 96 GT, got it from blackwood, coilovers, bigger turbo's, the usual shiz really. Auto, bummer. But it handles good, and I've never been on a race track with a car before, only my kart. Will see.
