Stuck with half a car that i need for work tomorrow. How do i swap wheel bearings in my s1 rx7 back drums? Have drum cover off. But seems you need to pull bearings off before full brakecomes off

Strip brakes, remove axle and press off old bearing, press on new bearing..
or swap another complete axle...Only options.

yep as said they have press on/off bearings. If you have gone that far, have you considered getting a complete s2 rear end?

Ok this is the worst case of diy mechanics I have ever done.

Got the axel out. And had to resort to angel grinding the top ring off the axel, to get the bearing off. Ended up nicking the axel, maybe a half mm deep by 1mm long nick. Hope this doesn't effect the driving at all???

Started pushing on The new bearing, that went ok. Then the second seal ring (forgot the name), and found out in the Haynes Manuel that you need a min of 2.7ton of press power to push it on. Have no tool that would get near that. Never mind the lack of a press.

So no car for work tomorrow, gonna cycle in and hopefully get back early enough to taxi somewhere that will swap around the bearings. (did I mention that the new bearing got damaged while I was putting it on) bit of a wobble now!

Who can do this kind of job?

DIY is best way to learn aslong as it dosnt cost ya $$
If you have damaged bearing, start again...
the nick you put in the axle should be ok...
Most workshops should be able to press a bearing and retainer on for you. What area are you in?
or backyard way is a steal tube over axle, against inner bearing race, and a big hammer (ruff but works)
