Hi guys,
Thought i would post up a great place to have your pride and joys painted.
If you dont mind a bit of a drive to have your car looked after, Mr Ed;s Paint and Panel are the place to go.
I got my S3 painted there and they did a great job, they wouldnt give it back until they were happy with it and didnt cost any extra to me.
The S3 went from this

most places now dont like to do big jobs, they make more money doing small things like bumper replacements and small pannel damage

I would suggest MR Ed's paint and panel then, they do big jobs up there and they will do a great job :)

its not that crash shops wont take your money, majority of the time the "owner" thinks he knows what he wants and knows what it costs, but this is more often than not far from the truth.
restoration and full colour change resprays are extreamly time consuming as some people know and cost more than most people know.
sure you can get a respray for $1500 but what will actually be done,in what material and what warranty?
you dont always get what you pay for but most times you do,and also different people want different things from their cars.
ive had 49 different cars,im a panel beater and none of them have been good enough for a show,in my opinion.
the small jobs theory has some truth in it, you can make good money on a dozen small insurance jobs and probably get paid in full before you complete a mediun/large resto job for more than likely less money!!
crash/insurance is mostly easier and faster,ie MORE MONEY IN IT,but in saying that bigger shops will not take on these longer term jobs or the old favorite"just do it in your spare time as i dont got the coin yet!!"
each bay in a crash shop is valuble real estate and it needs to make money by turning over work a resto takes far longer to complete and usually has many more stages= large cost.
give mike and christina from M & C DOYLE CRASH REPAIRS at edwardstown a call,i havent seen them for a while but restos and resprays were welcomed when i was there and quite a few feature cars rolled out of those doors
my 2c
cheers

Yeah i agree. Well said.
Most shops wont do full resprays due to time taken and amount paid. My host employer doesn't. The reality is, there's more doe in the quick front enders with bar/gaurds/bonnet etc. It's all time and money or more importantly less time, more money. And restos take time.
Bigger shops with more workers can afford to do 'em here an there, because they can still get out the small jobs and attack the resto when time permits.
As mentioned above, sooo many people want a cheap resparay but there just isnt such a thing unless you want, what you paid for. ie;will be crap, corners cut etc.
One thing, if you find a good shop that looks after you. Stick with 'em.
