One of my customers participates in a private drive day at mallala
it happens every few months
he usually pays 350 for the day
the lawyer that organises the day has to be making money on the fee
so my customer believes he can organise it himself cheaper, and is looking into it
just thought I'd throw it out there
not askin for any definate commitments, obviously!!
is anyone keen to go out with a few porsches WRXs etc
he's aiming to keep costs under $250per car/driver??
Let's show em the power of the rotor!!!
Post up if ya interested!!!!!
interested!
pending a running car of course

I'd be keen, but you'll find that's about what it costs, better off just all organising to go out to an open track day on the same day, I've been talking about it with a lad from work who just got a new ss, I wanna do it end of october ish... look on the mallala website usually looking about 100ish for the day and 25 for the day license
Usually you get about 5, 20 minute sessions which is more than enough for me
but you have to share the track with go karts and bikes on most of those days.

yea i've been out to a few practice days and super-sprints.
practice days are good because you dont have to pass scrutineering and can swap cars.
cams licence holders run seperate from the day licence holders so last time i couldnt race with my mate.
you've got enough time inbetween runs to check a couple of things and chat about how awesome you were.
sprints are cheaper, at $70 or so, and are professionally timed. but you gotta be in a two clubs and have a cams licence, and your car must be scrutineered and you have to purchase or hire a dorian timer.

Sprints are the better option as thoses private days are not timed unless you have your own timer
MSCA run 4 a year with a 6 hour relay thrown in.
Not expensive to join a club and cams licence each year
Michael..
From my limited experience, if youve never done this type of thing before ,spend the $125 on a practice day first. Quickly and cheaply find out if you and/or your car are cut out for this type of thing. Driving flat out on a proper circuit for a handfull of laps is very different to a quick thrash in the hills or a couple of goes at a street drag meet.
Id be keen for practice day if something was organized.

For a similar reason the Phillcom Time Attack series is great to have a run in too.

yes.... there are many ways to race
Better on the ntrack than on the road...
How many times have i heard that my car handles killa then once on the track its " it didnt handle like that yesterday '
I cannot promote this stuff enough as you meet interesting people and share ideas and tips ....

Yeah I agree with Ale, for the first couple of times I'dd be going to an open day and sorting the car/head out. I certainly will be with the daytona before doing any racing.
The aim is to do the time attack races I think, because really the only person you're racing is yourself
