got invited to the drifts yesterday and thought "why not?" its been a while since i've been out to lala and wanted to catch up with someone so headed out there for a geez. now normally im a self proclaimed hater of the drifts, bores me to tears . started at 4.30 - 5pm and went till 9pm. I was expecting to be gone by 7pm.
man was i surprised!!! its been years since i've been out there and i gotta say i ate my words period!! i had an absolute ball- to the point of thinking about selling my fd and buying an fc to drift!! there were about two classes of a total of 50 cars and for 4 hours one after the other just did laps over and over. back when i used to go, there was maybe 15-20 cars and there would be 10 minute breaks between runs and it was just straight lame.
the guys out there last night mainly just in street cars were absolutely awesome, i mean the skill some of these guys have got is just nuts!! no rotors out there but one of the guys i was with, who had 3 mates drifting that night, said last practice there was a black fd with 290kwatw, crazy!!
one of the best cars/drivers of the night was a guy in a ke70 rolla, like that really light fawn greeny colour with black over fenders and mirrors on the front guards and jesus, his entry speeds were blinding!!
it was ten bucks to enter as a spectator and i thinks between 125 and 150 to drive, you get to walk around the pits have a chat to some of the guys driving on the night give em a hand to fit zip ties, was fun.
some of the cars were-
green chaser (too gooda condish to be drifting it)
supercharged vt v8 wagon
sigma wagon with turbo astron motor
blue cortina with autobarn decals (sounded rb but definate turbo)
cressida with 2jz
r33 with blue tyres that smoked blue and left blue skids
r32 gtr rear wheel drive with cackling side pipe out the passenger door
pewter grey s15
jms white s14
about 4 ke70's
vl turbo (suffered major missfire issues by the end of the night)
about 4 ceffys
and a million 180's and silvias
so all in all, if you havent been for a while, i highly recommend going down there to have a look. i was very surprised how much its changed for the better and will surely head out to the next one.
heres a few pics, not sure why they turned out so crap (could be the $99 camera) but you get my drift, and i only got a few pics cos as usual i didn't check the batteries
severe rear damage to this silvia, perfect offset though!!
